ozark-gold-1

   Ozark Gold: Ripens at the end of August (20-30). Medium to large-sized,

conical-shaped, yellow fruit. The skin is extremely smooth and attractive with a red

flush. The flesh is soft, juicy and mildly tart in the early days of ripening. Scab resistant

Short shelf life (3 months).

 

      gala-milo

  

Gala: Relatively new variety. Ripens in the second half of August. Medium-sized,

spherical to conical-shaped fruit. Skin with pink-orange striping over yellow background

colour. Crisp, juicy, sweet, creamy flesh. Shelf life: 3-6 months. Cultivar sports: Royal

Gala, Gala Brookfeld, Gala Mondial, Regal Gala, Scarlet Gala, Crimson Gala, Galaxy

AUTUMN - WINTER VARIETIES

                                                                           

 

         red-delicious-apple

  

Red Delicious Cultivar: The most widespread variety. Ripens in the first half of

September. Medium-sized, conical-shaped fruit. The skin is red or with red-green

striping depending on the sport and altitude. Crisp, juicy, yellow flesh.

Main characteristic the 5 mastoid bumps near the calyx. Shelf life: 4 months or longer

in C.A. conditions.

   Starking Delicious: Sport of the Red Delicious. that has more or less the same

characteristics as the parent variety. Large-sized, conical-shaped, red fruit.

 

    Imperial-Double-Red-Delicious

  

 

   Imperial Double Red Delicious: Mutation of the Starking Delicious that has

more or less the same characteristics as the parent variety, but the fruit is larger,

more oblong, with a brighter colour.

  

     Starkrimson

  

 

   Starkrimson: Spur-type sport of the Red Delicious. Large-sized, oblong-shaped,

generally uniform red fruit, sometimes with an almost black hue. White flesh. Ripens

later than most standard sports (3-4 days).

Red Chief:  Spur-type sport of the Red Delicious. Large-sized fruit, uniform red skin

with faint striping, attractive and not as dark-coloured as the Starkrimson, can

sometimes take a dark red hue.

   Golden Delicious: Ripens in mid-September. Medium-sized, conical-shaped

fruit with a long stalk. When ripe, the skin is yellow with black dots. Sweet, juicy,

yellow flesh. Susceptible to scab. Shelf life: 4-5 months.

    

     mutsu-apple

 

  

   Mutsu ή Grispin: Triploid Japanese variety. Harvested in late September to

early October. Very large-sized fruit with green skin and crisp, aromatic, sweet-tart

flesh. Shelf life: 6-7 months.

 

 

    jonagoldpage-milo

 




Jonagold: Triploid variety. Harvested September 15-25. Large-sized, conical-shaped

fruit. Crisp, juicy, mildly tart flesh. Skin with a reddish-orange hue over yellow

background colour.

    Fuji: Harvested in the first half of October. Medium-sized, spherical to conical-

shaped fruit. The skin colour may vary from uniform red to light-red striping. Crisp,

juicy, mildly aromatic, yellowish flesh. Long shelf life.

Granny Smith: Late-season variety that ripens in the first half of November.

Large-sized fruit with a tall conical shape. Thick, waxy, green skin. Crisp, juicy,

mildly tart, yellowish-white flesh. Lonh shelf life (6-7 months).

    Ben-Davis

 

 

 Black Ben Davis: Old late-season variety. Large-sized, spherical-shaped fruit.

Dark red with a yellow flush that covers from half to the whole skin. Relatively juicy,

mildly tart, yellowish flesh.

 Firiki: Very late cropping variety, grown in a small scale. Medium to small-sized fruit

with a cylindrical-conical shape. Yellowish-green skin with red on the side where the

sun hits. Sweet white flesh.
